"Grand Voyageur" French Passport

“Grand Voyageur” French Passport

Got some email from Twisted Throttle yesterday about my order, informing me that they didn’t have the V47 Givi top box in stock and there was no ETA at the importer either… Doesn’t sound good to me, and even though they suggested me to change my setup the only other box that may be a good fit with the side V35’s would be a V56, but I’m concerned regarding the size: that’s 9 more liters into a box that was already quite big… The only benefits are, I could keep the same luggage rack on top, the mounting rack is also the same and the additional lights on the box would work too…

I’ll give it another thought if they don’t get news in one or two weeks, but in the meantime I asked them to send me the side boxes and rack and the engine plate…

The Tomtom Rider 400 is on its way from Amazon.ca and should be at my place tomorrow, which is great since I will be working from home. The SkeneDesign visibility lights should be there on Friday, according to shipping email.

I’m now looking into the Continental TKC-80 tires, that I will probably order soon from Fortnine (ex-Canada’s Motorcycle). That will add another CAD345.00 to the bill. I should start writing all that down, if some reader ever wonders how much a RTW trip and all the necessary gear can cost…

The same friends I went to Harrison Hot Springs with, on Saturday, are suggesting another trip to Mt. Baker this time, for next Saturday. I may go but much slower this time and take several photo breaks on the way.

Which makes me think I should probably set up some sort of photo-gallery here, possibly in the pages by region. Then I’d had some related links to the posts.

Also, I contacted the French Consulate today to see if I can get a traveler passport that will give me more pages for visas and bike importation stamps. Their answer was, I shouldn’t need it to go down to South America, and if I do I will have to justify why… I guess I won’t bother then, and will just go and whine at the local consulate wherever I’m stuck in the world… Then they’ll have to make it expedited, which is stupid: why do things in a hurry at the last minute if you can do them with calm and anticipation? All the more that I’m pretty sure the emergency situation will end cost me something – even if it’s just a few more nights and meals somewhere…
