So today started pretty well. I finally went to pick up my GPS from Canada Post this morning, after their non-delivery yesterday, and as soon as I came back home, a UPS parked in front of the house and I got my visibility lights. Greeeeeaat!
So let’s start with the Tomtom GPS. So I had been working from home yesterday, because they were supposed to deliver my precious by 8pm. I had imagined I would get the delivery earlier in the day, and since it was quite sunny outside, I hoped I could just go for a quick ride-and-coffee after work. But that didn’t happen, so at 8pm, wondering where my delivery was, I checked the tracking link, and discovered they had attempted to deliver around 1:37pm… Wait, what? I was sitting in the kitchen in front of the window and didn’t even notice the delivery truck… Weird… So I went to check if there was a notice pinned to the door, but no, nothing… Even weirder… Then I decided to go and check the mailboxes at the condo office and… there in my mailbox was a “delivery notice”… Nice… Super nice… All the more I had paid for a delivery before 8pm… Honestly, I don’t know how to put it on different terms, but really Canada Post sucks. I should have known better: I paid for a “delivery notice” delivery, not for a product delivery… Well, still they should have delivered the delivery notice to my door…
Anyways. Sent an upset/disappointed email to Amazon.ca in the evening and thought I’d pick the GPS at the post office today, after 1pm, since that was apparently the time it would be available for pick-up.
This morning, checking my email, I had a reply from Amazon, apologizing for the poor customer experience, and refunding me the extra charge for the delivery, also asking me to wait for the end of the day today for a possible re-delivery… Hmmm… re-delivery? Not exactly the style of Post Canada I think… So I waited a bit this morning, checking if the delivery status was changing to “re-delivery attempt”, but at 10:30am I saw the status had instead changed to “available for pick-up”…
Took me at the most 1 min to make up my mind, and I eventually decided not to try and wait for the end of the day and the possible re-delivery, jumped into my car – would have been longer going with the bike and I didn’t know if the package would fit in the frunk (“front trunk”) – and went to the post office to collect my precious. Sent an email back to Amazon to notify them that I wouldn’t wait as suggested and that they
should definitely drop Canada Post as a shipping partner…
So I just opened the box to take a picture, and here’s my new gadget in all its splendor. I will install it at the end of the day, when I’m done with work!
On the other side, I’m soooo satisfied with Motorcycle Innovations, who distribute the SkeneDesign visibility lights. Not only is the owner, Matt, very professional: he contacted me last week-end with the news one of the item –
a controller – was out of stock but could be replaced by an older version that was pretty much the same – only offering less power to future additional lights, which I had no plan to get anyway – but also cheaper, and he would refund me the difference. I accepted the deal, and got the news the items were shipped on Monday, through UPS, and should reach me on Friday. So, contrary to Canada Pest Post, UPS was delivering earlier than expected, not later. I love UPS.
And here are the photos of the 2 light kits and controllers, that I will install… well, maybe this evening too? 😀
More about these later…
