After the daily morning routine, I went to the reception to give the keycard back and while drinking some coffee I started a quick conversation with the manager on duty (or owner?) about the result of the elections. It’s funny to compare the various opinions, and that manager’s was pretty different from the friend from Ozark. But the conclusion was the same anyway: wait and see 🙂 I then left to start a long riding day of around 300 miles.
First stop was at St Augustine Beach, FL because it was really time for me now to see some real beach. I wasn’t disappointed, and even though I didn’t really enjoy the beach, I definitely enjoyed the view.
I stopped at Daytona Beach for a coffee, but didn’t went to see the beach there.
Coming close to West Palm Beach, I started looking for camping options, and finally decided for the West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA, where unfortunately there were no more tent site available, except the one deluxe tent site, which had a gigantic tent already set up, for double the normal price… My options being quite limited, I accepted that and unpacked, at least saving myself the trouble of mounting my tent, and then went to the KOA pool that was still open until sunset – and the sun was acceptably warm.
I discussed a bit with the friendly neighbors who were originally from Costa Rica, but living in Florida. I asked about the Safari, but they confirmed my assumption that doing it on the bike would probably have me killed 😉
