We left Hermosillo on Wednesday morning after breakfast and headed towards Yécora – a small town that falls between Hermosillo and Creel. We chose to stop here for the night because we planned to visit the Basaseachic Falls and didn’t want a long day of riding all the way to Creel, where we planned to stay to visit the Copper Canyon.
The town itself was very small and on the unkempt side with mostly-unpalatable options for food and accommodation. We chose to stay at the Hotel King as it was recommended to us. We paid 460 pesos (~33 CAD) for an “acceptable” room. The floors looked clean, as did the bed (though the same cannot be said about the smell); however, the bathroom looked like it hadn’t seen a decent scrub in a long time. Needless to say, our flip-flops didn’t leave our feet until we got into bed.
We always do our best to not be too demanding; however, considering that this place cost almost as much as our hotel in Hermosillo, we were sorely disappointed. With no Wi-Fi, no cell signal, and a small TV with a broken remote, we had dinner, showered, and were in bed at around 7 PM like good nonagenarians would. We planned for the next day and fell asleep quickly.
