We had a later departure than usual from Guadalajara since we didn’t have a very long road ahead of us for the day. After breakfast at Starbucks and a three-hour ride, we arrived in Morelia.
We stayed at the Hotel Casa José María, which set us back 650 pesos (~45 CAD). The hotel was clean, well-equipped, and beautifully decorated with bird-themed motifs. However, bikers (and people traveling with vehicles) beware as the hotel does not have any parking so you have to find parking on the street.
We were very fortunate that we were the only ones with a bike staying there and the manager was very kind to let us park the bike in the closed foyer of the hotel.
We relaxed and got cleaned up before heading out to get some dinner. Our hotel was in the historic town center so we took a walk and decided to try one of the restaurants in the Jardín de las Rosas area. We had some delicious pasta and ridiculously cheap beer (about 1 CAD for a bottle of Heineken) before calling it a night.
