On Monday, September 11, we decided to visit Guanajuato city since we had been hearing so many positive things about the place. We left at around 11:00 AM and rode for about an hour before we got to the historic town center. We quickly found a decent parking spot, parked the bike, and then hit the streets with our cameras.
The great thing about Guanajuato is that it is a very easy city to navigate on foot; some even say that it is the most walkable city in North America because traffic is directed underground. We took numerous pictures of this beautiful and very colourful city, so this post will be more picture-heavy than usual. Feast your eyes, my friends…
The last attraction we went to was the Santuario de Cristo Rey, which is a black statue of Jesus on top of a mountain with stunning views. Naturally, we rode for about 30 minutes on a cobblestoned nightmare before we reached the top.
This is the third time we have gone to a major tourist attraction in Mexico and the road from the main road to the attraction has been terrible. The other roads in Mexico have been great so this makes no sense 😐
The views were stunning and we snapped some quick pictures before riding the road from hell again to head back to Salamanca since we were running late for our evening English class.
