Day 232: Celebrating a very special human in Managua

Monday, March 12, was a very special day because it was our favourite biker’s milestone birthday. We stayed in most of the day and went out only around noon to pick up his birthday cake, which fell victim to the 40°C weather. Some damage control was done; however, the writing on the cake that said Feliz Cumpleaños (“Happy Birthday” in Spanish) could not be salvaged. Not all was lost as the cake still looked good on one side and was delicious when we got around to eating after dinner.

Speaking of dinner, Tim and Marisa took leave from frolicking around Léon and joined us in the evening to celebrate the special minion human. We went to Don Cándido restaurant for some good wine and incredibly delicious food. Birthday boy was happy.

Birthday celebrations don’t get better than with good friends

Pretty cake, isn’t it?

Hot weather is evil!

I think it is proper protocol to get a little sappy when writing a dedicated post about my love and best friend so, bring out your box of tissues and prepare to eat your own weight in chocolates. Just kidding. Don’t kill trees or give yourself diabetes.

I just want to acknowledge what a privilege I consider it to have met such a terrific person. Phil’s kindness, generosity, and mindfulness of all living things inspires me to be a better person. Also, he makes me laugh so much every day that I don’t need to go to the gym for a good ab workout and I will definitely need Botox by the time I’m 40.
